Hough Baseball Early Signing Day 4 Huskies made their college baseball plans official by signing during the early signing period on Wednesday November 08. Congratulations to Seth McAulay, who will be continuing his career at Western Carolina University; Justin Offschanka, UNC-Charlotte; Tyler Shingledecker, Penn St. University; and Justin Wilkins, High Point University.
Coach Harrill named Asst. Coach of the Year Pitching Coach Brian Harrill has been named 2017 Assistant Coach of the Year by the NC Baseball Coaches Association. In 2017, Coach Harrill led the Huskies pitching staff to a school record 1.026 ERA and a school record 223 strikeouts. He will be recognized at the NCBCA Convention in December.
Hunter Baker to NC State 2017 grad Hunter Baker officially announced he will be continuing his baseball career at NC State after his senior season at Hough. Hunter will join fellow senior Nick Swiney at NC State this fall.
Hough Baseball Set to Compete in 2017 National High School Invitational USA Baseball announced the field for the 2017 National High School Invitational on Thursday January 05. The Huskies are this years host team, and will represent North Carolina at the annual event in Cary, NC. The event consists of 16 teams from accross the country, competing over 4 days, and is recognized as the premier event on the high school baseball calendar. Clubhouse Nearing Completion: The newly constructed clubhouse and hitting facility at the Hough Baseball Stadium is nearing completion. Flooring has been installed and upon final completion of exterior landscaping, the facility will be ready for players and coaches. The project was started in the fall of 2015 and will provide the players with a state-of-the-art locker room and covered hitting facility.
Huskies Wrap up Middle School Clinic: The Huskies held the programs middle school clinic on November 25-26. Players were instructed on all phases of the game with controlled games being played in the afternoon. The camp concluded with the campers participating in tension filled ground ball and long toss competitions. This years camp staff included the Hough coaching staff along with current Husky players Hunter Baker, Bailey Dees, Nicholas Swiney and Josh Parker. 2016 Alum Will DeMarcus joined the staff on Friday while former Husky player, and current College of Charleston Jr. RHP, Justin Baker made a guest appearance to share his experiences with the campers on Saturday. The next camp will be held during the 2017 summer. Look for dates to be announced soon.
4 Husky Baseball Players sign with colleges on signing day: Hough Baseball Seniors Bailey Dees (Penn St. University), Cole Maye (University of Florida), Nicholas Swiney (NC State University) and Carter Williams (Presbyterian College) all signed their NLI's on National Signing Day which was held on November 09.
